  • 12 month position.
  • Responsible for all the grounds - Lawn mowing, weed eating, landscaping, spring seeding, patching, trimming, weed pulling, picking up litter.
  • Works with the Athletic Director in preparing all athletic fields (High School, Elementary, and in cooperation with the village, Lovell's Field) prior to practice and contests - Lining fields, maintaining condition of fields, watering, fertilizing, preparing playing surfaces, mowing when appropriate, setting of large equipment (Goals, bleachers, sheds, etc. as needed)
  • Snowplowing and sanding of lots with assistance of custodial staff.
  • Clearing walks of snow and ice with assistance of custodial staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment associated with these jobs- ensuring oil changes are done, sharpening blades, greasing, minor repair.
  • During slow periods the Groundskeeper will assist the district in other daily needs (minor maintenance, cleaning, etc.)
  • Minor repairs and improvements as assigned by the Director of Facilities. E.g. Vandalism repairs, painting, small building projects, etc.
  • Maplefest Preparation and tear down with the rest of the Facilities department.
  • Any other related duties as assigned.
Supervisor: Director of Facilities Hours: Normal work hours will be 8 hours a day. Hours may be extended or flexed by the district depending upon weather conditions and needs. Overtime and flexed time must be approved by the Director of Facilities. Typically: 6am to 2:30pm/6:30am to 3pm Snow season: May shift to 4am - 12:30pm, 5am - 1:30pm depending on snowfall Compensation: $40,000 - $42,000 DoE Minimum Qualifications:
  • Some knowledge of grounds maintenance activities and equipment (Zero turn mowers, tractors, tools, etc.)
  • Familiarity with plowing equipment
  • Willingness to perform routine manual work
  • Knowledge and ability to perform routine maintenance on small equipment
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
  • Able to pass NY State Education Department fingerprinting and background checks.
  • Class D NYS Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with athletic field maintenance a plus
  • Experience in tractors and large equipment
