Position Type: School Services/Groundskeeper Date Posted: 8/26/2025 Location: OSD Administrative Offices Date Available: 09/08/2025 Position Title: Groundskeeper FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: School Services Reports to: Grounds Supervisor Location: Oxford School District Salary Scales: I0 ($16.31/hr) - I30 ($21.99/hr) Position Type: Full Time Salary Range:Description of Position: Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs routine campus landscaping, weed control, and assists with moving of items within the district • Mowing, edging, weed trimming/control, pruning , snow and ice removal, and clean up debris • Assists Supervisor with maintaining irrigation systems • Assists Supervisor with evaluating playground equipment and repair as necessary • Litter control / pickup on campuses, parking lots, and playgrounds • Safe operation of all equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, chain saws, sprayers, and blowers • Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, blades • Cleans out drainage ditches, culverts and repairs erosion areas • Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs • Use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) such as safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc when operating equipment and dispensing chemicals • Maintenance and care of equipment in regard to mechanical ability of employee • Perform other duties as assigned • Ability to work outdoors year-round Qualifications and Education Requirements • A satisfactory driving record to include no more that two (2) traffic violations in the past three (3) years • A satisfactory employment record • High School diploma or its equivalent • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos • Must be able to pass all required training required by the school district and the Mississippi Department of Education • Must pass police background record check • Must be eighteen (18) years of age • Must be able to frequently lift 70 pounds Preferred Skills • Experience operating grounds keeping equipment such as lawn mowers, pole saws, sprayers, weed eaters, edgers, etc. Attachment(s):
