• Basic grounds maintenance knowledge

Education/ Qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to read and understand written instructions
• Ability to communicate verbally
• Ability to operate tractors and/or landscaping equipment
• Ability to operate riding and/or power mowers, power tools, gas and/or electric weed trimmers, blowers, edger's, sprayers, striping machines, post hole augers, hand tools, aerators and light duty trucks or vans

Reports to: Grounds ForemanMajor Responsibilities and Duties:

• Mow and detail the grounds and around fence lines, parking lots exterior buildings etc.
• Care for trees, shrubs and /or any vegetation (including any turf areas) by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching and controlling unwanted grass or weeds
• Plant shrubs and vegetation
• Provide proper care for all flowerbeds
• Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish and remove from district buildings and grounds
• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed district safety procedures and report any unsafe working conditions that are not correctable to your supervisor
• Transport equipment to work sites throughout the district
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Working outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and/or fertilizers) and loud noises. Frequent districtwide travel Equipment Used:
