Position Summary:The Groundskeeper II performs a variety of tasks as assigned within the facilities department. Primary focus and responsibilities include grounds maintenance, special events (particularly those outdoors), athletic fields, trash removal, and the moving of equipment, furnishings, supplies, etc. to support college activities. Essential Job Functions:Maintain and enhance landscaping beds. Mow grass, athletic fields, rake leaves, trim hedges and edge sidewalks and drivewaysParticipate in the removal of snow, ice, leaves and other debrisOperate such equipment as gasoline-powered mowers, shears, edgers, saws, sprayers, and leaf blowing machinesClean gardening tools and make minor repairs to mowers and other grounds maintenance equipmentSet up for athletic events, mark athletic fields, prepare athletic surfaces by grading, raking, etc.Set up for special events; tents, chairs, tables, etc. Move equipment, furnishings, supplies, etc.Assist in preparing seed beds, soil conditioning, and other horticultural materialsAssist in the planting, cultivating, of grass areas, shrubbery, flowers, bulbs, trees and plantsPlant and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees and other landscape items under direction of SupervisorParticipate in continuous quality improvement activities as needed/required i.e. attend trade shows and seminarsPerform other related work as assignedPhysical Demands:The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCEOne year of directly related grounds maintenance experience preferred. 4. EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or GED equivalency 5.
