Job Type Full-time Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundskeeper I to join our team. This role works closely with the Head Groundskeeper to help plan and coordinate the daily operations of our groundskeeping team. The Groundskeeper I is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising Groundskeeper II and III, maintaining the beauty and functionality of our landscaping, irrigation systems, walkways, pool areas, and plant-filled environments across the property. A strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and commitment is essential. This is a full-time position that requires flexible availability including weekends and holidays. All candidates must go through physical fitness exam. Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Supervise and demonstrate proper techniques to Groundskeeper II and III in planting, watering, cultivating, and general landscape maintenance
- Plant, maintain, and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, ground covers, and ornamental/indoor plants
- Cultivate and prepare soil using tools such as hoes, shovels, and rototillers
- Schedule and document the application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, ensuring safety and compliance
- Monitor vegetation for signs of disease, pests, or damage and implement corrective action
- Sow grass seed and manage lawn restoration projects
- Install, repair, and maintain various irrigation systems (drip, overhead, automatic, etc.)
- Maintain and repair walkways, driveways, and outdoor surfaces using appropriate tools and materials
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of gardening equipment and tools
- Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on gas-powered and cordless equipment
- Use appropriate PPE when handling hazardous materials or operating equipment
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with safety and traffic regulations
- Identify and remedy safety hazards on the property
- Track inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; order as needed
- Review work orders and project specs to ensure proper preparation and completion
- Perform duties of Groundskeeper II & III as needed
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

- Minimum of six years of related experience, with at least two years in a leadership role (e.g., Lead or Foreman)
- Certificate in Gardening or Horticulture
- Strong knowledge of chemical handling and application, including label reading and dosage calculations
- Excellent guest service skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
- Proficiency in written, verbal, and electronic communication
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions
- Sound judgment and discretion in decision-making
- Capable of working independently or in a team, under pressure, and on multiple tasks simultaneously
Essential Function: In order to perform the duties and requirements for this job, you must have the following physical abilities:
- Speak, hear, and understand speech at normal levels with or without aid. Ability to comprehend, carry out and explain verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to see and focus with or without visual aids while doing functions of the job.
- General dexterity for firm and simple grasping of objects, such as use of small repair tools.

You must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop and be on knees; reach and lift above, below and at shoulder level; lift and carry equipment and supplies; constantly walk and stand for long periods (up to 4 hours). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; walking over uneven ground and up and down stairs, lift trash bins to dump into garden containers with or without reasonable accommodation.
