Groundskeeper/Gardener - Marty's, Inc.

Marty's Inc. is searching for an onsite, experienced groundskeeper/gardener for our dealerships and properties.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to oversee and coordinate with existing external landscape companies. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the proper cultivation, maintenance, and care of plants, lawns, and gardens across a variety of outdoor spaces, including private residences and commercial properties. The role requires a strong understanding of horticulture and landscape maintenance practices to ensure high standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with outside landscape contractors to manage day-to-day landscape maintenance activities
  • Ensure the health and aesthetic quality of lawns, gardens, trees, and other plantings
  • Monitor and assess landscape conditions, recommending or directing appropriate corrective measures
  • Oversee seasonal planting, pruning, fertilization, and irrigation schedules
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets quality and safety standards
  • Serve as a liaison between property stakeholders and landscape vendors to align on expectations and outcomes

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License: May be required to operate company vehicles and travel between properties.
  • Legally able to work in the United States
  • Reliable Transportation: May be needed to commute to various properties.
  • Experience: Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or ground maintenance is typically required.
  • Horticultural Knowledge: Strong knowledge of plant care, horticulture methods and materials, landscape design, and plant biology.
  • Physical fitness: The ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Skills

  • Attention to Detail: Skilled at observing and addressing subtle signs of plant health issues, pests, and imperfections in garden design or maintenance.
  • Creativity: Experienced in designing visually appealing and functional garden layouts, with thoughtful plant selection suited to site conditions and client preferences.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members, communicating with management, and delivering updates or recommendations clearly and effectively.
  • Tool Proficiency: Competent in the safe and efficient use of a wide range of hand tools and power equipment for planting, pruning, trimming, and general garden upkeep.
  • Problem Solving: Able to quickly diagnose and address issues related to plant health, soil conditions, or landscape functionality to ensure ongoing garden vitality.

Education/Certification (may be preferred or required):

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Horticulture or landscaping certification.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
