JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the fitness supervisor the fitness attendant will monitor the fitness floor, clean equipment, schedule appointments for the exercise specialists, conduct Inbody appointments, conduct initial workout appointments, ensure wellness center policies are being followed, assist in member check ins and interactions, and deliver high quality customer service. JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES: · Member Interaction and Service: The Fitness Attendant should be approachable and friendly to all members. They should always have a member first mentality and strive to do the best job they can in service to our members. · Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of their role, including: all interactions with members, fellow staff, maintaining certifications/qualifications, continued education, and learning and applying new skills. · Teamwork: Demonstrates ability to work as a cohesive unit, support one another, and work together towards common organizational goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Conducts initial workout orientation (IWO) for facility, programs, and equipment to new members · Monitors progress for existing members and schedules review appointments · Assist staff in the facilitation of group exercise classes: set up, monitor, cleaning, etc · Follows established procedures when equipment is found to be malfunctioning to return it to operational status within 24 hours, including posting appropriate status signage, notifying the Fitness Supervisor or general manager, and recording the problem in the appropriate areas · Able to schedule or reschedule member appointments, as needed, without supervision · Able to provide fitness floor coverage without supervision, to assist members and guests with any exercise-related issues or questions · Able to clean assigned areas/equipment without supervision · Able to check and maintain pool chemicals and follow all pool related procedures without supervision · Able to close the building with supervision, ensuring all closing procedures are followed · Displays proficiency in the operation of the facility's computer hardware and software systems · Completes CBL's (computer based learning modules) including CA online classes and Technogym Wellness System annual review, without supervision · Looks to aid with extra tasks when needed · Is knowledgeable, aware of, and proficient in all facility rules, regulations, and policies, and enforces them when applicable. · Is knowledgeable and aware of current information on all center programs, services, and activities, and promotes them regularly · Greets members and guests by name and with a smile, and delivers world-class customer service at all times · Maintains high level of professionalism, in accordance with organizational standards of behavior · Responds to all emergency situations per facility policy and procedures · Attends all scheduled employee meetings · Assumes other duties and projects as assigned. EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: · Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative, coordinate and prioritize job functions and complete them in a timely manner. · Exhibits tact in working with people. · Ability to present technical information in a manner understandable to patients. · Demonstrate ability to inspire confidence and behave in a professional manner when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital staff. · Communicates clearly using both written and oral instruction in English. · Offers encouragement and accountability to members and guests to achieve their wellness goals. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: NONE ADDITIONAL LICENSURE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: · No experience required · BLS (Basic Life Saving)/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: · Lift 25 lbs. from floor to waist height, and carry for distances up to 50 feet · Reaching overhead and squatting to stock office supplies weighing up to 10 lbs. (examples: reams of paper, boxes of folders) · 1/4 of work day sitting to perform computer-based tasks including document processing, patient scheduling and charges, spreadsheets, Internet duties and other duties · Sit to and from, stand at office chair EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, Telephone, Printer, Fax Machine, Copy Machine, Facility Software, Exercise Equipment ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Works indoors in air conditioned and heated facility.
