Concordia University is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world.Position SummaryThe Graphic Designer at Concordia University Wisconsin and Ann Arbor (CUWAA) leads the creative expression of the university's brand across print and digital channels, ensuring a clear, consistent, and compelling visual identity that reflects the mission of Concordia. This position plays a key role in elevating Concordia's profile through strategic design work that supports recruitment, advancement, academic storytelling, and brand-building initiatives.Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute outstanding creative work that reflects Concordia's brand, mission, and Lutheran values across print, digital, and environmental platforms.
  • Serve as a designer for high-impact marketing materials, including publications, recruitment collateral, advertisements, trade show signage, and outdoor campaigns.
  • Collaborate with broader Marketing and Communications team to maintain and evolve brand standards across all media.
  • Participate in project planning, creative brief development, and strategic brainstorming sessions.
  • Support marketing campaigns and storytelling efforts through visual direction and coordination of design assets.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing creative technologies, processes, and workflows to support team efficiency and innovation.
  • Mentor and oversee a team of student workers, providing creative direction and skill development support.
  • Partner with freelance designers, photographers, videographers, and printers to ensure high-quality final products.
  • Because the unit is collaborative and dynamic, on occasion, other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of brand identity and the ability to express Concordia's mission with visual clarity, creativity, and authenticity.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and familiarity with design for both print and digital formats.
  • Working knowledge of video and photography principles and how they integrate into marketing assets.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Collaborative spirit and a commitment to teamwork in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, visual communications, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design in a marketing or advertising context.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of design work across print and digital platforms is required.
