Description
Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a Grants and Communications Specialist to join our Development team! The Grants and Communications Specialist is responsible for securing institutional funding and advancing the organizations visibility through strategic communications. This role manages the full life cycle of grant funding, including research, proposal development, collaboration with program area subject matter experts, writing and submitting proposals, reporting, and stewardship. Also responsible for developing compelling content within newsletters, social media, annual reports, press releases, brochures, and grants for a variety of audiences to support fundraising and goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, and evaluate funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and other sources aligned with organizational priorities
- Prepare high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports in collaboration with program and finance staff
- Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
- Establish open communication with foundations, institutions, and other giving entities
- Monitor grant budgets, outputs, and outcomes to ensure compliance with funder requirements and reporting
- Collaborate with the finance team to align budgets and financial narratives
Communications:
- Help implement a strategic communications plan that supports fundraising, brand visibility, and community engagement
- Develop content for newsletters, social media, and some content within the website
- Support the Director of Development with annual reports, donor appeals, and press releases
- Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all platforms in alignment with the organizations mission and vision
- Work closely with program staff to gather stories, data, and photos that illustrate impact
- Manage relationships with external vendors (e.g., graphic designers, printers) as needed
- Monitor analytics and engagement to refine and improve communications strategies
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years related work experience
- Embrace and be a champion for GNMHs vision, mission, and core values
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with donor databases (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce) and email marketing platforms
- Knowledge of public sector (federal/state) grants and compliance
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Canva, WordPress, and similar design tools
- Knowledge of the local and regional philanthropic landscape
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask and be flexible regarding workload and assignments
- Proven track record of securing and managing grants from institutional funders
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Creative and detail-oriented
