State Street, South Holland Job Type: Full-time Support Staff Job Number: 00273 Department: Business and Accounting Services Opening Date: 07/17/2025 Description Under the general direction of the Manager of Internal Control and Compliance maintains general accounting records and ledgers for the College in a confidential and professional manner, ensuring accordance with applicable laws and generally accepted accounting principles and practices for all Restricted Purpose (grant funds) of the College. Examples of Duties
  • Engages in a variety of projects and tasks related to the day-to-day fiscal management and maintenance of monetary funds, financial records and data base systems related to the grant funds.
  • Oversees procedures and systems relating to the maintenance of the general ledger for the grant funds; maintains daily cash balances, posts journal entries and analyzes restricted fund accounts such as PELL/JTPA funds.
  • Prepares, verifies and distributes financial reports and statements.
  • Reviews data, postings, ledgers, etc., in accordance with the ICCB.
  • Maintains close working relationship with auditors, financial institutions, college grant administrators and other agencies or service providers engaged in related duties
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized College or University with a major in accounting or finance.
  • Three or more years of progressive experience in an educational institution working with State and Federal grants.
  • Experience with grant accounting (fund accounting) especially postings of journal entries, monitoring cash balances and reconciling bank accounts.
  • Familiarity with applicable ICCB guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience in the preparation of grant financial statements and reporting to Governmental agencies and auditors.
  • Ability to work well with others and possess good written and oral skills.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Supplemental Information STATUS/BENEFITS: This is a regular full-time Support Staff position for 35 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Classified Grade X on the Support Staff Salary Schedule. The work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. The annual salary is in addition to the following employee benefits: • $15,600 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 10 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek
