DescriptionPosition Overview: The graduate technology specialist offers technical support within the Learning Commons. The position focuses on engaging with our technology and equipment while also supporting our tutoring efforts. The specialist will work with students and staff to ensure the effective use of our resources. They will also troubleshoot technological issues and provide insight on projects. The position requires interacting with members of Pace staff, faculty, and student body to help them develop their skills with these technologies and support the Learning Commons' mission. The Graduate Technology Specialist will: • Manage and maintain virtual reality (VR) headsets, making sure they are synced and ready for student use. • Research new uses and opportunities for VR in the classroom setting. • Support 3D printing endeavors and maintenance of printers. • Develop 3D models for promotional use and aid with student projects. • Develop learning resources for students and faculty related to technical equipment and software. • Engage with students and faculty about using new technologies. • Develop and research simulation learning initiatives. • Perform administrative tasks as needed or requested to support the center's operations. • Maintain an exceptional level of professionalism with students, staff, and faculty. • Utilize the Learning Commons SharePoint page for resources and communication. • Aid in the development and revision of support materials for new technologies and content areas. • Conduct one-on-one or small group scheduled and walk-in tutoring sessions with students from the Pace community. • Maintain detailed appointment reflections after each tutoring session. • Attend and engage in ongoing trainings, assessments, and meetings. • Undergo observations by Learning Commons Staff and conduct observations of student tutors. • Facilitate exam reviews, classroom visits, and Learning Commons events. • Conduct weekly content training sessions with peer tutors and lead content trainings in related areas. • Work with CS Content Manager to review tutor notes. Requirements • GPA of 3.4 or higher within the completion of the undergraduate degree (3.5 preferred). • Undergraduate degree within a STEM field • Advanced computer skills related to the relevant subject matter to be tutored • Ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and backgrounds • Previous tutoring experience preferred • Ability to adjust approaches to different learning styles • Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner • Reliable and patient with visitors
