Job Summary/Basic Function
The Graduate Assistant position in the SCTE Dean's Office serves in a variety of roles, including project management, student engagement, faculty support, and special projects. This position acts as a critical first point of contact for visitors to the Dean's Office and for students needing help or support. The Dean's GA is expected to be an outstanding communicator who will provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Required Qualifications
All graduate assistants must be enrolled in a Millersville University graduate program; non-degree students and those only seeking post-baccalaureate certification are not eligible.
Full-time Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 6 credits in Fall semester and in Spring semester.
Ability to work on-campus during normal business hours (preferred schedule is Monday through Friday 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.)
Strong customer service skills with willingness to serve in a daily public-facing role.
Preferred Qualifications
Enrollment in one of the programs in the College of Science and Technology.
Job Duties
Provide project management support to help organize several major large-scale events for the College of Science and Technology throughout the academic year, including Science Lectureship, Women in Mathematics, Science and Technology Conference, Science Olympiad, and Dean's State of the College Address.
- Coordinate logistics including venue reservation and catering details.
- Collaborate with staff, faculty, event directors, committees and boards.
- Manage invitation lists and track RSVP's.
- Advertise and promote events across campus and externally.
- Ensure sufficient staffing levels are maintained
Facilitate event check-ins and award ceremonies and perform other duties as required to ensure successful events.
Assist faculty, staff, students, and guests, by serving as first point-of-contact in Dean's office.
Maintain records and databases, review and compile data to produce reports.
