Job Description :

An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, serving grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade. This contract position supports approximately 10 students who are emergent communicators and have autism. The teaching assignment is focused on providing targeted instruction and support within an elementary school setting in the Syracuse, NY area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction plans tailored to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with additional communication needs.
  • Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technologies to support language development and academic progress.
  • Collaborate closely with speech therapists, special educators, and families to ensure comprehensive support for students learning and communication goals.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all reporting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Experience working with young children with autism and emergent communicators.
  • Ability to employ visual and tactile communication methods effectively.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families.
