Goodwill is hiring for our GoodGRADS program in Ottawa! This position is responsible for providing quality instruction to adults in a basic and secondary learning program to ensure their ability to complete a GED program.Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Participant ManagementProvide constant communications with GoodGRADS Staff regarding students' needs and progress.Provide post testing results and other reporting to Adult Education Program Manager.Actively recruit adult learners to the GED program by attending events and working with community partners to share information about the GoodGRADS program.Curriculum ManagementAbility to produce and deliver in person instruction.Uses GoodGRADS Curriculum with Illinois Career and College Readiness Standards (CCRS) to guide instruction which includes but not limited to:Design standard-based instructional units and lesson plansMethodologyOn-going assessmentEstablish a course of studyPlans and delivers high-quality, evidence-based instructionUses a variety of instructional techniques.Possesses content area knowledge and teaching skills required for subjects and populations taught.Designs instruction to build learners' technology and digital literacy skills.Utilize case management skills to:Effectively communicate to motivate and engage learnersEngage in active listening, dialogue and questioning to facilitate support and accountability of goals and commitmentsModel an understanding of diversityParticipates in professional development networks and learning communities.Participates in and contributes to program improvement effortsQualifications & Basic Job Requirements:A combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.Demonstrate ability to work with individuals with barriers, understand, and communicate with diverse groups.Experience working with high school and adult age students in urban, non-traditional, and/or in adult education setting highly preferred. The ability to motivate and assist individuals in learning.Strong organizational skills required.Strong verbal and written communication skills along with basic computer navigation and word processing skills are essential.Must be available for employment year-round.Sensory and Physical Requirements:Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. Available for employment year-round.Principal Challenges:Working with multiple participants with various educational levels and barriers.Environment:The work is conducted in Ottawa and must be flexible with working with other mission programs in the same office space. This environment involves collaboration with multiple teams. Noise levels will generally be quiet to moderate.
