090325 - Glycol System Operator (1-Year Contract)Location: Warwick, RI Sigma Systems is currently seeking a skilled Glycol System Operator to join our team in Warwick, RI. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring the airport deicing system and wastewater treatment plant while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. • Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the deicing system and treatment plant under supervision of the Wastewater Treatment System Supervisor.
  • Control treatment processes including influent feeds, fluidization loops, effluent discharges, solids handling, chemical feed, and utilities.
  • Monitor and control glycol collection systems, pumps, valves, and related infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; recommend adjustments or maintenance needs.
  • Operate and monitor SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Perform water quality sampling and analysis.
  • Carry the deicing emergency pager (October-May) for 24-hour on-call coverage during winter operations.
  • Enter data and prepare reports for the Environmental Programs Manager.
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment and compliance with airport security procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3+ years' experience in water quality treatment operations.
  • 3+ years' SCADA network management experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to interpret data, monitor systems, and apply operational adjustments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
  • Physically capable of climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working with hands overhead.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Certifications
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER Training (preferred).
  • Grade 1 or 2 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (preferred).
Work Environment
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying New England weather conditions.
  • Routine use of PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call response during deicing season.
  • Tasks may involve climbing, crawling, and driving on the airfield.
