Position Context

Leads the research, activation and centralization of initiatives related to process design, industrializations, manufacturing instructions, and new process technologies. Oversees the process design for relevant projects and initiatives.

Mission

  • Foster and centralize the research of emerging technological innovations and new process capabilities that unlock areas of opportunity for Campari Group.
  • Oversee liquid process design and industrialization to ensure quality and operational standards are met.
  • Lead the effort to identify areas for improvement in processes, technologies, reduction of waste, and improvement in cost savings through brainstorming and analysis.
  • Foster collaboration and sharing of best practices across regional/local teams.
  • Increase communication and collaboration across Global, Regional and Local teams to drive strategic initiatives. Focus on faster innovation and Regional empowerment.
  • Set Strategic initiatives, standardize Ways of Working, and support Regional teams to deliver their agendas.
  • Build and sustain one technical strategy from design to execution.
  • Design Global Standards / Frameworks / Policies based on inputs from regional/local teams as well as key stakeholders to enable faster execution.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Lead Global Liquid R&D process projects and initiatives to ensure product and process industrializations meet quality and operational standards.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure proper process design is in place for relevant CapEx, transformation, co-manufacturer, and merger/acquisition projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and lead research programs that research, identify and develop emerging capabilities that provide benefits to the business (i.e. improve efficiency, reduce complexity, mitigate risk, expand capacity, add value to new products, improves sustainability, etc.)
  • Own Manufacturing Instructions with standard process requirements, controls, and proper governance.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of internal procedures, validation protocols, test methods, industrialization procedures, and implementation of new or alternate processes for the Regions.
  • Oversee the centralization of projects/initiatives, data, learnings, emerging technologies, guidelines/templates, procedures, and other information related to process design to be accessed by relevant stakeholders.
  • Share Process R&D programs, best practices, initiatives, etc. during the quarterly Global Liquid/Process R&D Community forum and/or other relevant forums.
  • Coordinate skills mapping process to identify gaps and challenges at Global, Regional, and local levels to identify development and training requirements.
  • Partner closely with Liquid R&D, Environmental Sustainability, Manufacturing, and Engineering Teams to strategize on possible process and technology opportunities and develop the pipeline of projects (near- to long-term).
  • Participate in external associations, industry working groups to develop standards and common procedures, to stay informed on market industry trends and regulations, to identify opportunities for co-development and partnerships.
  • Measure and track Process R&D metrics and KPI's to assess performance and identify areas of improvement.

Internal: Global, Regional and Local Liquid R&D Teams, Global Botanical Team, Global and Regional Supply Chain Team, Global, Regional, and Local Manufacturing and Engineering Teams, Global and Regional Quality Team, Global and Regional PLM Teams, Global Environmental Sustainability Team, Global Co-Manufacturing Team.

External: Suppliers, Co-manufacturers, Laboratories, Research Institutes, Associations, and Industry Committees

Summary of Experience and Key Skills

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience working in a similar role within spirits or food manufacturing industry.
  • Fermentation and distillation knowledge and experience within the spirits industry is required.
  • Proven track record as a leader and team builder.
  • Outstanding technical capability with a proven track record of project management and delivery
  • Outstanding creative problem solving and multitasking skills
  • Good understanding of quality tools and benchmarks, including hygienic design, Food Safety/HACCP, etc.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Design is highly preferred.
  • Strong competency and experience in process development, manufacturing, and engineering.
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to align the different interests of internal stakeholders in a matrix organization as well as external ones.
  • Global mindset, ability to think across functional boundaries and geographies.
  • Italian and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Flexible to travel extensively both domestically and internationally (up to 20%).

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc University in a relevant Engineering and/or other discipline

Functional knowledge of food contact materials, Regulatory, Quality and Food safety management systems.
