core responsibilities

The Global Brand Design Director is responsible for overseeing the company's visual identity and design strategy. They will lead a global design team to create and maintain the brand's identity and experiences across various channels and guest touchpoints. Their work spans a range of media, including packaging, retail communication concepts, digital platforms, moving images on brand screens, and television.

This role leads the development and maintenance of the company's brand identity across all international markets, ensuring consistency in design elements while adapting to local needs, by establishing a comprehensive design system, collaborating with regional teams, and driving creative vision to achieve brand goals on a global scale.

As the Global Brand Design Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a design system: Creating a comprehensive set of guidelines and assets for designers to follow, ensuring brand consistency in marketing materials, packaging, digital experiences, and retail environments.
  • Leading cross-functional teams: Collaborating with marketing, RBE, DBE, Events, product development and design, strategic sales, and regional teams to integrate brand design across all channels and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Adapting to local markets: Working with regional teams to localize brand elements while maintaining core brand identity, considering cultural nuances and market specific needs.
  • Maintaining a global brand aesthetic: Defining and protecting the overarching look and feel of the brand, including color palettes, typography, imagery, and design principles to be applied consistently across all touchpoints worldwide.
  • Strategic vision and direction: Developing and executing a long-term brand design strategy, identifying trends, and proposing innovative design solutions to enhance brand perception.
  • Quality control: Reviewing and approving all design assets to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and high design standards
  • Stakeholder communication: Presenting design concepts to senior leadership and key stakeholders, effectively communicating the rationale behind design decisions
  • Packaging design: Oversight of packaging design direction across all global touchpoints (shoppers, retail, campaign)
  • Toolkit design: Oversight of design for Campaign and 365 Toolkits/Playbooks
  • Campaign ID: Lead and oversee Identity for Campaign IDs with internal resources or external agencies

qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience with global expertise
  • Mastery of design principles and visual storytelling across different mediums (print, digital, packaging, experiential)
  • Leadership and people management skills
  • Expertise in industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.)
  • Brand strategy knowledge: Deep knowledge of brand positioning, differentiation, and brand architecture
  • Understanding of marketing and consumer trends
  • Global perspective on design and communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present design concepts to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to articulate design rationale and defend creative decisions

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and teamperformance. Thetypical hiring range for this position is from $155,400 – $203,900 annually ; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equityofferings , subject to program eligibility requirements.
