The incumbent performs professional technical work in meeting Geographic Information System needs of the enterprise. Work involves updating enterprise GIS database and layers. Collects, edits, and manipulates enterprise geographic data. Supports enterprise GIS users in the most efficient manner possible while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism. Performs excellent customer service and adds value to the needs of the public, fellow employees, and other governmental agencies. Collects, creates, edits, maintains, and updates all types of geographic data using GIS, GPS, and other technologies Advances the functionality of the current capabilities to include transitioning into more web base applications using 3-Dimensional and spatial models to support demographic and economic development analysis and Public Safety (Police & Fire) incident analysis and reporting. Implements data standards to support ESRI's Data Models such as Address Data Model, Basemap Data Model, Building Interior Space Data Model, Census-Administrative Boundaries Data Model, Fire Service Data Model, GIS for the Nation Data Model, Groundwater Data Model, Historic Preservation and Archaeology Data Model, Land Parcels Data Model, Local Government Data Model, Raster Data Model, Telecommunications Data Model, Water Utilities Data Model to name a few. Continuously develops methods to improve automated data importation from applications like AutoCAD into the GIS system. Creates custom requested maps and products for all city departments to include: Public Safety, Public Works/Utilities, Community Development, Engineering, Financial Services, the City Manager & City Clerk's Office, as well as other various city departments and divisions. Interprets and performs basic spatial analytical analysis on data and GIS layers to produce maps, reports, and other products Attends GIS-related meetings, conferences, and workshops Fosters, implements, educates and assists employees in the use of GIS Assists in raising awareness and integration of GIS into stakeholder's business processes and applications. Resolves IT tickets with regards to GIS system or data. Interacts with all departments to determine current and future GIS needs, including data and software. Performs other assigned duties as assigned. Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban/Regional Planning, Geography, Natural Science, Engineering or closely related field; Two (2) years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. Knowledge of data integration standards and practices. Knowledge of the enterprise Geographic Information System needs. Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software. Knowledge of research techniques, methods, and procedures. Knowledge of the Internet. Skill in using highly technical computer applications, such as GIS or Computer Aided Drawing (CAD). Ability to create metadata, special instructions, changes, and write detailed user instructions. Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals. Ability to work in heat, cold, around noise, and other undesirable environmental conditions. Ability to read fine print on computer paper, computer equipment, and see lights on equipment. Ability to work regularly scheduled and unscheduled overtime hours. Ability to work in confined spaces. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary work and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
