Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. has an immediate opening for a full-time, GIS Technician in its Seattle, Bellevue or Bellingham area, Washington office.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a GIS Technician at Farallon you will work collaboratively with our technical team members to develop high quality map products in print, digital, and interactive or online formats that depict our project sites and data collected. You will also provide support to Farallon field staff through the creation and management of maps loaded onto the ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 software sets for field data collection. You will be working closely with the Farallon data team to manage and find innovative ways to visually depict environmental and regulatory data to support routine project work and litigation. The position will require effectively working with Farallon team members at many levels and across all our office locations. The position requires creativity, excellent communication skills, pride in the quality of your work product, and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for cartographic design and high-quality graphic production in both ArcMap and Adobe Illustrator, for both maps, graphics, interactive items, and reports.
  • Create and maintain in-house GIS datasets using ArcGIS (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
  • Prepare accurate and detailed drawings from data supplied by field surveys.
  • Capture, download, or convert GIS data from internal and external sources to incorporate into project databases.
  • Input, update, and maintain GIS databases.
  • Manipulate GIS data to create information products to meet project specific needs, including spatial analyses or interactive products, with the ArcGIS software suite.
  • Provide quality control for all GIS project deliverables.
  • Provide detailed review of work products created by other members of the team, prior to delivery to project managers.

Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with ArcGIS software suite (Both ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap)
  • MS or BS/BA in Geography, Geology, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online and various supporting software such as Field Maps and Survey123.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for both map enhancements and/or graphics creation from scratch.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and maps.
  • General knowledge regarding geology, hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, and environmental engineering.
  • Computer skills including in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate professionally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow detailed instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as a well as accept directions on given assignments.
  • Responsive and able to handle context or project changes multiple times a day.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and open-source GIS
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required
