Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that all Farrell, OSHA, and site-specific safety regulations are followed/enforced.
  • This position will also support the sales and engineering teams to grow their own understanding and the business, including:
    • Preparing geotechnical designs, cost estimates and proposals based on interpretation of
    project documents.
    • Supporting the Marketing and Business Development departments by attending trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.
    • Making technical presentations to prospects and supporting educational training of Menard clientele.
    • Utilize, review, and keep up to date technical expertise and knowledge to commonly used concepts, practices and procedures, and code requirements.
  • Assist Project Managers with project-specific diverse tasks, including:
    • Performing and managing field quality control tests and production records.
    • Creating and maintaining daily construction reports.
    • Researching and resolving drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
    • Performing basic field surveys, resolving geometry issues, preparing drawings/sketches to support construction work.
    • Preparing RFI's and assisting in preparation of change order documentation and claim analysis.
    • Ensuring all installation follows Farrell's quality control procedures.
    • Prepare draft engineering and construction documents.
    • Assist with and/or perform load testing.
    • Collaborating with superintendents, foremen, and other field personnel.
    • Maintaining and establishing new relationships with our customers.
Required Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar field.
  • Class C driver's license.
Desired Education/Training:
  • OSHA 30-hour Safety Certification.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate.
Desired Work Experience:
  • 1 year of civil engineering, surveying, and/or heavy construction experience.
Required Skills:
  • Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation.
  • Problem solver with a can-do attitude that delivers results.
  • Understanding of basic geotechnical design and calculation principles.
  • Strong observation skills and ability to work with diligence.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, especially related to completion and documentation of all responsibilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting at desk or job site.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities in all types of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Fingering (fine dexterity), handling (grasping/holding), repetitive hands and feet motions.
50% overnight travel required for this position.
