Geotechnical Engineer - Principal LevelLocation SyracuseSecondary LocationsJob Code 18500# of openings 1Apply Now ( Engineer - Principal LevelPOWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geostructural design team.This position is posted in multiple POWER office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please note in the application questions where you prefer to be located).Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will be responsible for principal level project guidance and/or technical expertise. They will also be responsible for mentoring younger engineers and assisting in training as needed. They may also be expected to help develop and grow new technical areas.Completion of these functions requires technical competence in primary production roles as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring team members assigned to projects. Assigned projects will include complex transmission projects and programs including lengths in excess of 100 miles and multiple line segments and operating voltages up to 765kV. Importantly, this position is expected to facilitate the growth of the geostructural team.Technical skills/knowledge include the following:All aspects of transmission line design projects including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additionsPerform quality reviews for both internal and subcontractor deliverablesPrioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraintsGeotechnical scopingGeotechnical exploration and testingFoundation and Anchor SelectionFoundation and Anchor ModelingFoundation DesignAnchor DesignConstruction Specification DevelopmentConstruction Drawing DevelopmentConstruction SupportThe successful applicant must also demonstrate aptitude in the following:IntegrityInitiative and self sufficiencySpoken and written communicationLeadership and mentoringBusiness and commercial performanceTroubleshooting and problem solvingInterpersonal relationsOrganizationSuccessful candidates must be willing to travel on occasion and work successfully in a customer focused, project oriented environment.Required Education/Experience:Civil (BSCE) or Electrical (BSEE) degree, from an accredited universityA Professional Engineering licenseExperience in the design of foundations for overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission linesUnderstanding of NESC and GO-95The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelExperience using the Microsoft Office software suiteProficiency with FAD tools and LpilePreferred Education/Experience:20 or more years of experience in geotechnical applications for transmission line design and/or transmission structural design as outlined aboveExpertise with FAD ToolsDistribution/underbuild design experience is a plusUnderstanding of ANSI, ASTM, ASCE, and IEC standardsManagerial and leadership skillsPOWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
