SummaryGeotechnical Engineer is responsible for report preparation, specification writing, foundation design, geotechnical calculations, and field explorations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory analysis
  • Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction
  • Perform shallow and deep foundation designs and slope stability analysis
  • Perform deep foundation analysis for various types of piles
  • Geotechnical design of:
    • Shoring and bracing systems such as soldier pile lag walls, sheet pile walls, cellular coffer dams, secant pile walls
    • Tieback anchors and rock anchors
    • Retaining walls such as segmental retaining walls, cantilevered retaining walls, gabion walls, reinforced earth walls
  • Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination, liquefaction analysis, site-specific spectral response analysis, liquefaction induced settlement analysis
  • Conduct group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study and lateral load and deflection behavior analysis

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential for practicing independently and signing off on designs
  • Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, and specific experience with vertical construction projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Compensation: $80 - 100k annually
