Overview:A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Department Manager to lead its geotechnical team. This leadership role involves overseeing departmental operations, managing staff, and ensuring high-quality project delivery. While the primary focus is on management and technical oversight, the role also includes contributing to geotechnical design work as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the geotechnical engineering department, including staffing, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Oversee project execution, ensuring technical quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
- Provide guidance and support on geotechnical investigations, analyses, and reporting.
- Participate in geotechnical design tasks such as foundation recommendations, slope stability, and earthworks when required.
- Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders on multidisciplinary projects.
- Support business development efforts through proposal input and client engagement.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including leadership and project management.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and design practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with geotechnical software tools (e.g., LPILE, Slope/W, PLAXIS, etc.).
