Facility: Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment: Lab SupportSchedule: Part timeHours: 24Job Details: The Genetic Health Educator is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating a program of genetic outreach education pertinent to consumer and medical agencies including patients, parents and/or other family members, other professionals, students (secondary and post-secondary), and the general public through lectures, online webinars, phone calls and literature. The educator must be able to present information in an appropriate manner, taking into consideration the specific educational and cultural needs of each group or individual. The genetic educator will promote and maintain existing genetics and birth defects related educational resources and will develop new educational materials as needed. The Genetic Health Educator participates in data collection and reporting as required by the genetics grant through the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). This includes reporting into the ODH Genetics Education Events Database (GEED) and providing assistance as needed for ODH reporting of clinical genetics encounters. Department Specific Job Details: Will require traveling to events within Ohio. Shift: 1st shift may vary Education: Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biological Science, Science Education or related field as requirement.
