Job Description

We are seeking a full-time, energetic, efficient, and detail-oriented individual to fill a reproductive genetic counseling position serving a high-volume and diverse patient population. Responsibilities include providing preconception and prenatal genetic counseling services for patients with various clinical indications such as advanced maternal age, abnormal screening results, ultrasound anomalies, personal or family history of genetic disease, positive carrier screening, and teratogen exposures. The role involves comprehensive risk assessment, discussing testing options, and advising on reproductive choices. The individual will join an experienced team of reproductive genetic counselors and Clinical Geneticists at Mount Sinai (main campus).

Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling and education on issues like teratogen exposures, ultrasound findings, blood test results, carrier status, age-related risks, family history, pregnancy termination, and testing options.
  • Offer counseling via a hybrid model of in-person and telehealth visits, including some remote telehealth sessions.
  • Supervise Master's level genetic counseling students, fellows, residents, and medical students during rotations.
  • Document patient interactions through chart notes, summary letters, and consultation reports.
  • Assist with scheduling and administrative coordination to ensure timely patient care.
  • Report and interpret screening and testing results for physicians and patients.
  • Handle inquiries from physicians regarding test management, interpretation, and genetic issues.
  • Coordinate specimen retrieval, testing, and billing with outside laboratories.
  • Facilitate communication between labs and clinicians, providing test results and follow-up recommendations.
  • Provide genetics education to medical students, residents, and other learners.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 2 years of genetic counseling experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • ABGC Certification within 3 years of graduation.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $131,538 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits and bonuses are additional.
