Works under clinical supervision of part time Geneticist at Queens Hospital Center and under administrative supervision of the full time Pediatric Director. Provides genetic counseling services and risk assessment for all patients with family, personal history or abnormal relevant screening or diagnostic test results to determine genetic risks, provide testing options and supportive counseling. In addition to counseling patients, serves as educational resource for other health care provider, patient advocate, refers to appropriate community and state programs/services. Responsibilities Performs administrative functions necessary for specimen processing and program support. Supervise medical/genetic counseling students from affiliated programs. Referral source include prenatal, cancer, pediatric, preconception, adult, newborn screening and other specialties within hospital and in community referral base.
