General Manager of Airport Operations - Facilities, O''Hare – CDA - Facilities Section. Under direction, the managerial class plans and directs the operations of a functional area at O''Hare International Airport or Midway International Airport, and performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties
- Direct, oversee, and coordinate skilled trades personnel and management staff across disciplines engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance work.
- Collaborate with senior staff and design staff to plan, schedule, and manage large-scale in-house projects related to the airport''s infrastructure; consult with professional engineers and architects on remodeling projects requiring design services, drawings, or specifications.
- Review and evaluate the work performance of supervisory personnel; recommend disciplinary action when needed.
- Coordinate and participate in human resources activities (e.g., interviewing, employee relations).
- Direct, monitor, and train Skilled Trades staff to ensure adherence with FAA regulations and department work requirements.
- Establish, develop, and participate in the operational budgeting process, including financial reports and tracking expenditures; monitor overtime and project progress to ensure budgets are respected.
- Review work summaries submitted by supervisory staff and generate comprehensive activity reports.
- Serve as liaison with airport tenants and respond to inquiries regarding repairs and maintenance status; represent the department at meetings with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Manage and monitor airport O&M contracts, contractor performance, participate in contract scope development, and provide feedback as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Authorize requisitioning of materials, supplies, and equipment; monitor progress and ensure projects stay on budget.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Nine (9) years of airport or airfield operations experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role related to the position responsibilities; OR
- An Associate''s degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field, plus seven (7) years of airport or airfield operations experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role; OR
- A Bachelor''s degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field, plus five (5) years of airport or airfield operations experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role; OR
- A Master''s degree or higher in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field, plus four (4) years of airport or airfield operations experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
- A valid State of Illinois driver''s license is required.
- Must obtain airfield certification within three months of hire.
- Candidate(s) must pass Ground Motor Vehicle Operating Basic Driving test (Yellow Stripe) administered by the Chicago Department of Aviation within 90 days of hire.
