The New York Neo-Futurists seek a collaborative problem-solver dedicated to arts administration to join the organization's team. The General Manager's role is to ensure clear communication, sound financial stewardship, and strong operational infrastructure in support of the company's artistic work. The ultimate goal is to free company members to make art by coordinating administrative processes and maintaining the day-to-day functionality of the organization.

The General Manager will act as a representative of the company and facilitator within the company. General tasks include managing financial operations, maintaining legal and fiscal compliance, supporting fundraising efforts, coordinating logistics for shows and events, preparing grant budgets and reports, tracking income and expenses, processing payments, and partnering with internal committees to support organizational initiatives.

The new position of NYNF General Manager will report to the Board of Directors, be responsible to the Performing Ensemble and Technical Collaborators, and work in partnership with the Artistic Director to achieve the company's mission and support the weekly creation of our flagship show, The Infinite Wrench.

Compensation

The General Manager is a part-time position that offers a yearly salary of $18,000. This position averages 20 hours per week for 50 weeks per year.

Duties of the General ManagerOperational & Strategic Leadership
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to develop and execute organizational strategy, ensuring operational systems and infrastructure support the company's artistic vision and long-term goals.
  • Maintain compliance by overseeing permits, fees, licensing, insurance policies, and employee onboarding/offboarding.
  • Manage and update the operational handbook and administrative systems.
  • Maintain a high standard of accountability and professionalism for staff, ensuring quality service and communication with patrons, artists, and donors.
Financial Oversight
  • Lead budgeting processes in collaboration with committees and the board; provide digestible financial reports at monthly ensemble business meetings, highlighting trends and comparisons with past years.
  • Work closely with bookkeepers and accountants to manage all financial records and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain organizational bank accounts, pay expenses, and secure loans or credit when necessary.
  • Manage audits and ensure timely execution of yearly tax filings in collaboration with bookkeepers and CPAs.
Communications, Development & Partnerships
  • In collaboration with the Artistic Director and fundraising team, generate and compile quarterly data reports for grant proposals and internal benchmarks of success.
  • Serve as a co-producer and lead administrator for fundraising campaigns and community engagement events, including opening nights and special programming.
  • Maintain functional relationships with theater venues; handle lease negotiations, contracting, and renewals.
  • Support donor stewardship and external communications; respond to customer inquiries via email and voicemail in collaboration with the Artistic Director.
Internal Management & Culture
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, equity, and respect across the organization.
  • Provide clear, consistent communication to keep team members informed and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Cultivate a strong, positive, and inclusive work environment where all company members and collaborators feel valued and connected to the company's mission.
Staff, Intern & Vendor Supervision
  • Supervise and coordinate schedules with the Artistic Director, ensemble, and technical collaborators.
  • Oversee the intern program, acting as supervisor and primary schedule coordinator for interns.
  • Contract and coordinate with external vendors, including legal, accounting, insurance, venue, and PR professionals as needed.
Meetings & Other General Duties
  • Attend and report at monthly company meetings and all Board Meetings, providing updates and gathering feedback.
  • Support special event planning, including vendor bookings, issuing contracts, and securing venues.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and priorities as determined in partnership with the Artistic Director.
Ideal Candidate Possesses
  • A love of Neo-Futurism and The Infinite Wrench!
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of experience in a management or leadership role within a nonprofit or for-profit organization—preferably in a theater or performing arts setting.
  • Proven experience in development and fundraising, board relations, and marketing.
  • Strong business acumen, including budget creation, financial management, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, and other relevant administrative tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak persuasively and serve as a public representative of the organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and relational skills, with the ability to engage and support a diverse, dynamic, and evolving company.
  • A collaborative problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to guide decision-making across competing priorities.
  • A commitment to giving and receiving feedback, and to fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • A passion for theater and a demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice in the arts.
  • A flexible schedule, with availability for evening and weekend responsibilities as needed.
