The General Manager is accountable for leading the Chicago region of SupremeX's envelope business providing regular reports on the region's progress to the President of the Envelope division. The General Manager will guide the division's performance, including financial health, operational efficiency, business development, and personnel leadership. With an understanding of P&L obligations, this individual will work with SupremeX the leadership teams to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and sales functions to enhance productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

As the leader of the Chicago division, the General Manager will build a culture of performance, collaboration, and innovation by energizing employees, building morale and effective team-building to promote inclusion and forward-thinking activities. This role will ensure the division aligns with corporate priorities while maintaining local operational excellence, while encouraging and facilitating effective and cooperative interaction with other Regions/Branches. A strong focus will be placed on talent development, cost management, customer service, and business growth within the U.S. market.

Location

This position is based at the SupremeX Chicago, IL office, supporting two (2) locations and approximately $50,000,000 in revenue annually.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the President of the Envelope Division and will collaborate closely with other Directors and Managers within SupremeX Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage P&L for the Royal Envelope Division
  • Execute strategic and operational plans aligned with corporate objectives
  • Lead sales, customer service, production and support HR and finance to ensure a cohesive operational unit
  • Contribute to the division's budgeting process and ensure financial targets are achieved
  • Foster strong relationships with key clients, vendors, and industry partners to support business growth
  • Drive process improvements to enhance quality, throughput, and cost efficiency to improve corporate performance
  • Coordinate and confer with staff to resolve operating problems and difficulties, and authorize department operational procedures within corporate framework
  • Identify and analyze information to give early warnings of potential problems and recommend corrective action
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the division
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development to direct and indirect reports
  • Represent the division internally and externally as a brand ambassador for SupremeX
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and corporate standards
  • Identify risks and opportunities for business optimization and growth
  • Drive talent management strategies to support succession planning and leadership development
  • Support integration efforts related to acquisitions or system rollouts if applicable
  • Collaborate across North American divisions and departments to ensure consistency and leverage synergies
  • Perform other related duties and participate in additional assignments as required by the needs of Region or Company, or as directed by the President
Authority
  • Direct employees – assign work; correct and discipline; evaluate performance; answer grievances/settle conflicts; recommend new hires; recommend pay increases, promotions, and discharges
  • Set divisional performance objectives in line with strategic goals
  • Approve pricing, contracts, and customer quotations within defined thresholds
  • Propose and manage the annual budget and capital investment needs
  • Make critical decisions regarding day-to-day operations and resource allocation
  • Implement divisional policies consistent with SupremeX corporate direction
  • Proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally in printing, paper converting, or envelope manufacturing
  • Strong business acumen and results-oriented mindset
  • Hands-on operational approach with deep understanding of workflows and efficiencies
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills across organizational levels
  • Comfortable in both shop floor and executive-level environments
  • Highly organized with solid analytical, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Confident decision-maker with a calm demeanor under pressure
  • Strong focus on safety, people development, and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to lead by example and build a high-performance culture
Requirements
  • 10+ years of senior management experience in manufacturing; envelope, print, or paper industry preferred
  • 5+ years of direct work experience in a sales management capacity, preferably in the envelope OR a related industry
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or similar degree an asset
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with ERP and Business Intelligence Software, Dynamics AX knowledge an asset
  • Strong financial literacy and demonstrated ability to develop, read and interpret financial documents, KPIs, budgets, forecasts, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in growing revenue and improving profitability
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Chicago, IL; occasional travel within North America may be required
