Location Overview
The General Manager is responsible for ensuring hotel profitability through revenue growth, cost management, guest satisfaction, and employee development, while maintaining hotel integrity.
Responsibilities
- Daily oversight of operating departments, making adjustments as needed.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and training sessions according to Highgate standards.
- Meet all financial review deadlines and participate in corporate programs.
- Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors.
- Maintain budgeted productivity levels and proper accounting procedures.
- Develop management talent through training and corporate programs.
- Lead hotel sales efforts, including client engagement and hosting events.
- Participate in MOD coverage and monitor management trainees' development.
- Ensure policy compliance and assist in budget processes.
- Implement service standards training across departments.
- Create a positive, guest-focused team environment.
- Regularly inspect rooms and property maintenance.
- Oversee invoice processing and financial documentation.
- Forecast financial performance and analyze data for reforecasting.
- Conduct interviews and performance appraisals for management staff.
- Motivate, coach, and discipline management personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Engage with clients and guests to support sales and service excellence.
- Ensure safety procedures and credit policies are followed.
- Complete corporate training modules and participate in scheduled meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel or related experience, or a 4-year degree with 4-5 years of experience, or a 2-year degree with 5-6 years of experience.
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
- Warm, friendly demeanor and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle problems effectively.
- Attend all required meetings and maintain high personal standards.
- Understand and evaluate complex information, maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as required.
