Position Summary
The General Liability Claims Specialist is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and settling complex General Liability claims, including Commercial Auto Liability and Physical Damage claims. The role requires maintaining high standards of technical proficiency and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Manage caseload of Property and Casualty claims, including general liability, construction defect (especially small to mid-sized residential contractors), and commercial auto liabilities across multiple jurisdictions.
- Investigate and analyze coverage; determine coverage; draft and communicate coverage decisions effectively.
- Conduct thorough investigations throughout the claims process.
- Establish and re-evaluate reserves timely within authority.
- Determine liability, evaluate exposure, and negotiate claims to resolution.
- Identify and pursue risk transfer opportunities, including contractual indemnity and additional insureds.
- Maintain accurate documentation in claim files.
- Proactively manage litigation towards resolution.
- Prepare concise reports, including Large Loss and Reinsurance Reports.
- Control costs through vendor management.
- Negotiate and settle claims within authority limits.
- Build professional rapport with clients and claimants to resolve issues effectively.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Meet quality performance guidelines.
- Attend mediations, pre-trial conferences, trials, as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Insurance or related fields.
- At least 5 years handling general liability and commercial auto claims.
- Current P&C adjuster license; ability to be licensed in GA, FL, SC, CO, TX.
- Insurance designations like SCLA, CPCU are a plus.
- Proficient in Construction Defect and auto liability laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with transparent communication.
- Skilled in analysis, time management, negotiation, and multitasking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
