General Lab Assistant - Full Time - Evenings - Stamford Health : Job Details

The General Laboratory Assistant, under the supervision of a registered MT or PA, is responsible for working independently to perform general and/or specialized laboratory procedures in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Will provide laboratory functions to include preparation and stocking of selected microbiology media and supplies to the microbiology section, provide glassware maintenance for all laboratory sections, and provide general laboratory support. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May assist with phone support paying attention to HIPPA guidelines and good customer service. Receives and screens incoming calls and directs calls to the appropriate person or department. May print, fax and/or mail reports. Performs all LIS functions relative to the scope of his/her responsibility including patient registration and accessioning.
