Job Location : San Angelo,TX, USA
The Youth Director is to develop programming for youth, grades 6th – 12th, to communicate with families with youth, and to work closely with Church Staff, Youth Council, and other groups determined by the Sr. Pastor. The goal of the Youth Director includes the spiritual and faith development of youth and their families, integrating them into the congregation and into the life of a Disciple of Jesus Christ.
Qualifications
To perform successfully in this position, an individual must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and qualifications required.
• A Bachelor's degree or greater is preferred but not required.
• A Theological compatibility with the basic beliefs of the Methodist Church.
• Organizational and implementing skills compatible with the vision of the Church. Through practical skills and common sense, to lead in communicating this process and develop, organize and oversee plans of action for programming needs and recruiting volunteers.
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing, maintaining a demeanor compatible with Christian service.
• Ability to interface with all staff, pastors, and those within and outside the Church.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of multiple software programs.
• Ability to learn new techniques, programs, and applications.
• Ability to use general office machines, phones & computers.
• Time Management Skills
• Ability to multi-task and change priorities on short notice.
• Two years' experience in an office setting, knowledge of a church environment.
Responsibilities
-Continually develop and enhance programming for youth. This includes Sunday school, Sunday Worship opportunities, Sunday Night Programming, and midweek programming as needed.
-Participation and communication with local schools, special events, and contests is highly recommended.
-Encourage participation in Conference/non-conference camps/retreats to foster and cultivate relationships with students, as well as foster and cultivate relationships with other youth groups in our connection.
-Organize, implement, and participate in all Wednesday night programming for youth education, music and other activities.
-Manage space and furnishing for all youth programming.
-Work with the Sr. Pastor to ensure youth participation in worship, such as scripture readers, communion servers, and other areas of worship.
-Coordinate and oversee Youth Sunday school, including curriculum purchasing, training, and appreciation for volunteer teachers.
-Scheduling/planning/implementing special lessons, teaching and encouraging consistent servant attitudes in youth.
-Assist Children's Director with Vacation Bible School by recruiting student volunteers and helping where needed.
-Ensure all volunteers have completed the required background check process and maintain accurate records of completion.
-Oversee supply needs for all curriculum and other items needed for a fruitful youth programming.
-Advertise for classes, Bible studies, special events in monthly newsletter and/or weekly email, as well as bulletins and brochures as needed.
-Other activities and support as assigned by Senior Pastor.
