SHIFTS: Monday-Friday 4:30pm-10:00pmPOSITION SUMMARY: The manager on duty is responsible for assisting the branch director in all areas, providing support to the front desk as needed, and to assist with membership system management and to ensure the safety of all participants in the facility. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y's core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. CORE FUNCTIONS:1. Proficient in DAXKO operations including but not limited to; imputing members and programs, receiving, collections, terminations, and deposits. 2. Proficient in Daxko Engage, including but not limited to; logging conversations with members each shift, utilizing and completing tasks, etc. 3. Proficient in SmartStart scheduling. 4. Handle customer and employee issues in a positive way upholding the Y's values. 5. Must be able to work a rotating schedule that may include evenings and weekend work. 6. Provide leadership and customer service in all areas of the facility including the front desk. This may include but not limited to; instruction and support for answering telephones, causedriven tours, receipting, and managing communications with members. 7. Ability to make decisions and assume responsibility of the facility when Branch Director and other department directors are absent. 8. Walk the facility every hour, including outside, checking for any safety issues and malfunctioning equipment. 9. Responsible for ensuring the facility is completely secured when being closed. 10. Must have extensive knowledge of the Emergency Action Plan. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. 11. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages all non-exempt employees in the absences of department heads. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees', addressing complaints and resolving conflicts. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED required plus one year related experience and or training. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently required to talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and use hands and fingers. Employee may occasionally be required to lift 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, COURSES:New Employee Orientation; required to start work, provided by the Y. Additional training, licenses, and courses may be required throughout employment.
