About the Role:

The Hospital Admissions Coordinator plays a crucial role in the patient intake process, ensuring accurate documentation of demographic data, insurance details, and eligibility. You will be responsible for assigning medical records and account numbers, which form the basis for accurate billing and client clinical data.

SHIFT: This role involves onsite work from 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM with rotating weekends and holidays. Please note that the schedule may adjust based on business needs and patient census.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and verifying complete and accurate demographic and financial information from various sources, including patient interviews and healthcare providers.
  • Obtaining necessary signatures on legal consents and insurance documentation.
  • Performing pre-certification, credit referrals, or deposit collections, ensuring thorough documentation of admissions in the system.
  • Informing patients and families about insurance coverage issues, co-payments, deductibles, and deposits, while documenting all relevant information accurately.
  • Reviewing the completeness of Physician's orders and ensuring all required information is properly noted.
  • Ensuring compliance with Medicare regulations, including obtaining ABN when necessary.
  • Staying updated on all federal, state, and local laws related to insurance rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining proficiency in multiple computer systems.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and directing unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Managing incoming telephone inquiries, adhering to a pre-established script while assisting callers.
  • Completing all duties for your shift in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complying with all safety regulations and protocols as established by the organization.

What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum of 0-1 year experience in a medical or high-volume customer service role with data entry skills, including volunteer experience.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Willingness to complete AVADE training offered by the MLK Community Hospital within 30 days from start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in Emergency Department admissions.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology or a willingness to learn.
  • Typing skills with a minimum speed of 35 WPM.

The annual salary range for this position is $38,000.00 - $63,000.00, with compensation influenced by a variety of factors including experience, training, licensure, and organizational needs.
