We have a Front-end Software Development opportunity supporting a new weather program at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is a full-time, on-site position at the William J. Hughes Technical Center.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.

We seek an individual capable of working independently, with supervision, and in a team environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in software requirements analysis, design, reviews, development, testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems.
  • Programming in languages used for NAS and NAS support systems, such as C, C++, Java, SQL, and Assembly.
  • Interfacing databases with client-side interfaces.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math, or a related technical field with at least 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, and up to three (3) years of related work experience.

Skills

  • Proficiency with: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular Framework, Node.js, UNIX/Linux (RHEL), DevSecOps, Docker, GitLab, OpenShift, JMS/RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ, Selenium, API Integration.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, research, and problem-solve.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Providing 2nd level engineering support.
  • Supporting software development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting for weather systems.
  • Reviewing system engineering and testing documents, and training materials.
  • Participating in design reviews and meetings.
  • Understanding systems, databases, networking, virtualization, and environments.
  • Producing efficient, high-quality code.
  • Supporting software in Linux environments, troubleshooting, debugging, and improving existing applications.
  • Providing remote end-user support via helpdesk.
  • Maintaining a flexible work schedule with occasional non-standard hours and travel.
