Compensation: $200,000 to $300,000 base + equity

About the Role:

Help build the healthcare system you wish existed. This is not a wellness app. Not a one-off tool. Not a dashboard that disappears in a sea of portals.

The team behind this stealth-mode, venture-backed healthtech startup is building a precision health platform that personalizes prevention, surfaces problems before they happen, and makes healthcare feel like something you want to engage with (not something you avoid until it is too late).

They are hiring their first product engineer; someone who can take full ownership of version one. If you love to build something meaningful and technically ambitious from the ground up, this is your invitation.

You will be the first person to ship production code for this company. What you build will define the user experience for years to come. You will work directly with the founders to translate healthcare complexity into clean, elegant software.

Responsibilities:

• Build the entire front end of the product (the part patients and clinicians actually use)
• Create tools that connect genetics, biomarkers, wearables, and habits into one coherent user interface
• Set the bar for code quality, architecture, and engineering craft
• Prototype, experiment, and refine the product in real time
• Work full time onsite with the team in New York

You will not be working on a marketing site. You will not be stuck in layers of management. You will not be waiting on permission. This is a build-it-and-own-it role.

Skillset & Experience Required:

• Experience as a founder or first engineering hire
• Built 0 to 1 products at a venture-backed startup
• Operated across the stack (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Python, Go, Postgres)
• Been the first or second engineer on a team
• Balanced speed with craft and cared deeply about the quality of what you ship
• Navigated ambiguity with a calm, structured approach
• Worked in a regulated industry (healthcare, medtech etc.)
• Familiarity with HIPAA or privacy-by-design principles
• Experience working with biometric, wearable, or clinical data

This is a role for someone who wants to build something that could change lives (and knows how to make that happen). This is not a role for someone who wants safety and structure. It is for someone who has shipped fast, built carefully, and wants their work to have purpose.
