Forklift Operator - Aerotek : Job Details

Now Hiring 1st Shift Forklift Operators!

Begin each day with safety procedures and warm-ups, then review daily orders on the board. Operate sit-down forklifts to pick parts throughout the warehouse using a labeling system and RF scan gun. Handle oversized products, such as equipment tires and animal nutrients, and load/unload them onto truck beds. Collaborate with supervisors to address any task-related concerns. Ensure products are accurately sorted, labeled, and safely stored in containers or on pallets. Maintain cleanliness by sweeping the area when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to pick and move oversized products.
• Load and unload products onto truck beds.
• Lift items weighing up to 65 lbs occasionally.
• Collaborate with supervisors to resolve task concerns.
• Sort, label, and store products accurately and safely.
• Maintain a clean work area by sweeping as needed.

Essential Skills

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to lift 65 lbs occasionally.
• 6+ months of forklift experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with RF scanners.
• Familiarity with warehouse and production environments.

Work Environment

The workplace is a large warehouse in Cedar Falls, Iowa, involved in warehousing, packaging, and rail trans-loading across various industries. The environment is fast-paced, with temperature variations throughout the year and a dusty atmosphere due to animal feed. Shifts include 1st (6am-2:30pm), 2nd (2pm-10:30pm), 3rd (10pm-6:30am), and an additional shift (7am-5:30pm, Fri-Mon). Steel-toed boots are required, with jeans/shorts (khaki, tan, or denim) and a t-shirt or long sleeve as the dress code. Disqualification applies to job hoppers or those with unfavorable past reasons for leaving.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
