Position Summary
The Salvation Army St. Paul Citadel Corps is Doing the Most Good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.
The Food Shelf Assistant supports food shelf operations by distributing food, managing inventory, handling donations, and maintaining cleanliness. This role ensures accurate record-keeping, compliance with health standards, and proper storage of all donations while providing excellent customer service to participants.
$17/hour, 15 hours/week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Stocking and Storage (45%): Process, store, stock, and rotate food donations and other gifts-in-kind properly.
- Donation Handling (40%): Drive, load, and unload food and other in-kind donations.
- Food Distribution (5%): Distribute food boxes to participants while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Inventory Management (5%): Maintain up-to-date, accurate records of incoming and outgoing food and supplies.
- Food Shelf Maintenance (5%): Keep the food shelf clean and organized, ensuring compliance with health department and food bank standards.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in food pantry or food service.
- Must pass background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, be at least 18 years of age, and meet MVR requirements.

Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting.
- Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Business casual environment; not eligible for remote work.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and participants.
Driving/Travel Requirements
- Drive agency vehicles locally to transport food and other in-kind donations.
