Salary: $15.00 Hourly Location : Royal Oak Campus Job Type: Part-Time Hourly Job Number: 202300103 Division: Culinary Arts Opening Date: 07/23/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Summary of Purpose Works collaboratively with Food Service Technician(s) in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Typical Duties This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required.
  • Completes assigned cleaning tasks, as directed; maintains a clean, sanitary ware-washing area and kitchen (lab) environment.
  • Processes chefs' supplies requests to build class carts.
  • Participates in cashiering process for weekly operations and special events.
  • Checks in deliveries from vendors; stocks product in designated storage areas.
  • Maintains a safe environment free of slip and fall hazards; ensures proper use of safety equipment; follows safety instructions.
  • Operates a three-sink washing system and automatic dishwasher to County Health Department standards.
  • Shelves clean dishes in a timely manner to maintain an organized kitchen environment.
  • Completes other duties as assigned, such as assisting with basic food handling and set up for culinary events.
  • Wears proper uniform of black or denim pants and black, non-slip, covered toe shoes.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Knowledge and Skills Required
    • Ability to learn and follow County Health Department guidelines
    • Ability to read and understand common documents and labels such as break schedules, food/supply labels, warning labels, etc.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with customers
    • Ability to utilize basic math skills to assist with inventory and cashiering
    • Ability to read chefs' supplies requests to build carts containing supplies for class use
    • Ability to learn and understand the flow of dirty and clean dishes to prevent cross contamination
    • Ability to stock and unload shelves and deliveries
    • Ability to perform duties while standing and walking for extended periods of time with the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and lift up to 40 lbs., including above the head
