This posting will be used to fill one (1) intermittent vacancy within the Minnesota Veterans Home-Fergus Falls. An intermittent employee works an irregular and uncertain schedule as the needs of the agency require. Intermittent employees must be available to work all three shifts and some weekends. Shifts may be: day shift 6:30am-3:00pm, afternoon shift: 10:30am-7:00pm and/or evening shift: 3:30pm-7:30pm. The position is not initially eligible for health and dental insurance benefits. Current State of Minnesota employees will not be considered for concurrent appointments at this time due to overtime considerations and the irregular work schedule requirements of this position.
Employees in this class perform routine work in the preparation and service of food.
Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of: Materials and methods used in preparing food Care and use of cooking utensils and equipment Food values and nutrition
Ability to: Perform simple cooking on a large scale Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks Follow instructions
Preferred QualificationsExperience prepping, plating, and serving food Knowledge of basic sanitation standards
Additional RequirementsThis position requires successful completion of the following: A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s).
