The floral clerk or floral designer is a floral products expert who maintains and operates the produce floral department including designing, cutting and arranging live, dried or artificial flowers, gift baskets and foliage according to department standards.

**Some Job Responsibilities include:**

* Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.

* Trimming material and arranging bouquets, wreaths and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape, foam and other materials.

* Pricing and displaying floral products in sales cases.

* Actively Selling merchandise.

* Informing customers about the care, maintenance and handling of various flowers, foliage, indoor plants and other items.

* Advising customers of appropriate merchandise selections, conferring with customers regarding type of arrangement or plant desired.

* Receiving customer orders.

* Filling customer orders correctly and filing the names of customers and their preferences to facilitate future sales transactions.

* Conferring with customers regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time and place of delivery.

* Planning arrangements according to clients requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials, and selecting appropriate standard design patterns.

* Following approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, price marking and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation.

* Assisting in checking and verifying produce department product.

* Taking received and prepared products to refrigerated storage, shelf and display areas.

Performs other duties as needed or assigned by management. Must be at least 18-years old.

**Ability to:**

* With both customers and team members, remain helpful, tactful and courteous at all times.

* Work quickly/efficiently to accomplish assigned duties, ensuring all team members do the same.

* Consistently merchandise quality floral arrangements, cut flowers, bouquets, gift baskets and floral products for sale.

* Add, subtract, divide, multiply and perform other basic business math calculations.

* Read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, business forms, and posted company policies/procedures.

* Learn a wide variety of information pertinent to flowers, flower arrangement designs and their care.

* Be dexterous enough with hands and fingers so as to be able to cut flowers, make flower arrangements, fill and rotate products quickly and use necessary equipment, including knives and shearers.

* Communicate openly and professionally through appropriate body language, facial expressions and speech, also communicating in writing when necessary.

* Listen to and understand verbal and non-verbal communication of customers and fellow members.

* Stand for long periods of time, bend and twist, and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies weighing 30 40 lbs.
