- Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for the overall daily operation of the Pharmacy Department including but not limited to, operational and clinical services. The Pharmacist will be responsible for all activities related to dispensing medications including purchasing, preparation, and distribution of drugs; clinical oversight and interaction with medical staff; and appropriate, timely submission and reconciliation of drug claims.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, including dispensing, medication therapy management, drug utilization reviews and patient counseling.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses and administrative staff, to improve patient care and pharmacy services.
- Serves as a drug information resource for all patients and providers.
- Maintains medication inventory levels, including checking stock, ordering supplies, and maintaining perpetual inventory system.
- Processes expired medications and recalls according to established procedures.
- Assists with physical counts for annual inventories and conducts regular cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains accurate and confidential patient and pharmacy records.
- Ensures proper storage and security of controlled substances to prevent theft or unauthorized access.
- Follows established protocols for handling and safeguarding controlled substances.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuing quality improvement activities.
- Implements and follows policies and procedures to protect patient information (HIPAA)
- Ensures strict compliance with all standardized professional policies and procedures;
- Ensures adherence to State and Federal laws and regulations and 340B compliance parameters.
- Supervises the work pf pharmacy technicians and other support staff, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Teaches, trains, and mentors pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Verifies the order entry, preparation and labeling of medications by the pharmacy technicians.
- Provides immunizations to patients as per MA BOP regulations and OCHS policies and procedures.
- Provides exceptional customer service by responding to patient inquiries and resolving
- patient complaints or issues.
- Floats between various pharmacy locations as needed to ensure adequate pharmacy coverage and fulfill staffing needs.
- Stays up to date on pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices, including changes affecting the 340B program and community health.
QualificationsWhat We Need From You:Required:
- A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
- A current, valid, unrestricted license to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- 1 year or more of pharmacy or related experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational abilities, computer experience, and the ability to work within a collaborative team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - bi-lingual helpful
- Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft office, OneDrive etc.
- Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment
Preferred:
- Masters'or Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
- Knowledge of and experience with QS 1 software
- 1 year or more of supervisory pharmacy experience in outpatient clinic pharmacy services or retail pharmacy
