Serving as the first point of contact for patients and callers, this role combines receptionist and callcenter duties. Representatives answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, verify demographic and insurance information, document interactions and provide information to patients. They foster a welcoming atmosphere and ensure patient confidentiality. Responsibilities Include
- Answering phone calls and greeting visitors, providing information and assistance.
- Scheduling appointments and coordinating with clinical staff to ensure optimal patient flow.
- Verifying and updating patient demographic and insurance details in the electronic health record.
- Documenting inquiries, appointments and messages accurately.
- Adhering to HIPAA and privacy policies, handling complaints professionally and maintaining a calm, organized reception area.
- Assisting patients with forms, insurance queries and referrals.
Ideal Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; postsecondary coursework in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain friendly and professional under pressure.
- Proficiency with callcenter software, EHR systems and office technology.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes; bilingual skills are an advantage.
- Ability to work one of the listed shift patterns: (1) Monday 8 a.m.-1:45 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; or (2) Monday 1:45 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Wednesday 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
