The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, structural, and specialty design services for various building types, including public, municipal, private, and Federal projects worldwide. Our team specializes in sectors like Healthcare, Science and Technology, Data Centers, Higher Education, Federal, Transportation, Water, and Resources, emphasizing sustainable design and energy conservation.

Our New Jersey BES group is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer/Specialist to join our team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support and lead fire protection aspects of complex projects such as hospitals, research facilities, and data centers.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques to address fire protection issues.
  • Design fire protection systems, including wet, dry, and specialty systems.
  • Manage drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, and oversee staff.
  • Engage with clients and contractors as needed.
  • Lay out sprinkler head locations and standpipes, develop hydraulic calculations using software.
  • Interpret data, review drawings, ensure quality, and mentor team members.
  • Perform field verifications, review codes, coordinate with disciplines, and assist in specifications.
  • Visit sites to monitor progress and resolve field issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Fire Protection PE License preferred; without it, title is 'Fire Protection Specialist'.
  • Experience with fire alarm, life safety, detection systems, NFPA, NICET, Revit is a plus.
  • Local candidates are preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • Entry-level NFPA, ICC certifications or related credentials.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; specialty software experience preferred.
