Salary: $45.00 HourlyLocation : Beaumont, TXJob Type: Full-TimeDepartment: Auditor's OfficeOpening Date: 08/06/2025FLSA: Exempt Description Summary: Independently plans, directs implements and evaluates all operational aspects of internal auditing and internal examination functions in the Auditor's Office. Duties & Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: The Manager supervises the Internal Audit staff, assists in planning, organizing, directing, and performs a wide variety of internal auditing duties in order to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Manages all aspects of internal examination. The work involves treating a variety of problems, questions, or situations in conformance with established criteria as well as establishing internal policies and procedures. Provides guidance on financial accuracy, internal controls and regulatory compliance. Examines and improves operating practices, and financial and risk management processes of the organization. Works independently and objectively. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Education & Experience Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least two years accounting and/or auditing experience. Good working knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting. Good working knowledge of Federal and State Grant rules, regulations, and reporting requirements preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); standardized financial practices; federal, state, and local government codes; and financial/accounting software and computer systems. Skilled in entering, reconciling, and reporting financial data; reviewing accounting systems and procedures; and recommending process improvements. Strong ability to analyze, calculate, consolidate, reconcile, and interpret accounting data, as well as identify and correct errors. Proficient in cash handling, capital asset management, inventory control, audit procedures, and financial analysis techniques. Experienced in conducting special projects and performing financial analysis related to county operations and functions. Extensive knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, and financial reporting. Proficient in using financial systems and equipment, including calculators, computers, and spreadsheet applications (with advanced Excel skills). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and interact with the public.Equipment Used: Personal computer; copy machine; scanner; 10 key calculator by touch; other general o?ce equipment as needed; vehicle.Work Situations/Demands/Efforts: Work requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy; attention to detail; working alone and as part of a group; flexibility in order to perform and coordinate a variety of duties; performing routine, repetitive duties; meeting frequent deadlines in a high volume, stressful environment; dealing with constant interruptions; occasional irregular and additional hours as needed. Employee works independently within established guidelines and/or timeframe; requires assistance only with unusual, non-routine matters or situations.Working Conditions: Work is preformed primarily in a controlled office environment.
