IntroductionFastway Couriers is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Financial Controller to join their team.
Key Responsibilities- Creation and updating of SOPs
- Review and validation of rates loaded on FMS
- Review and validation of CDLBS in FMS and RF to RF batching
- Assist with alignment of policies, processes, and procedures across the group
- Testing and implementation of franchise controls
- Primary review of customer billing
- Support with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensuring expenses and income are mapped consistently across entities
- Coordinating with external financial, compliance, and tax auditors
- Creating and monitoring company policies and internal controls, especially spending controls, to safeguard company assets and reduce fraud
- Providing financial reporting and analysis to guide decision-making
- Identifying efficiencies and opportunities for cost reductions across the business
- Rolling out of any new processes with the financial staff
- Support with payroll processing for the group
- Advising company managers on operations activities based on knowledge of the underlying business
- Assist with group procurement activities
- Additional controller duties as necessary and support with new projects and initiatives
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., CA(SA)) is highly advantageous
- Experience with internal controls and financial systems is essential
- Experience working with Sage accounting software is highly desirable
- Prior experience in an audit environment (articles completed at an auditing firm) would be a significant advantage
- Experience developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is beneficial
- Strong financial acumen with a focus on internal controls and systems management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in financial software systems, with Sage experience being highly desirable
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
