Column Technical Services is seeking a strategic Workday Payroll Specialist II with expertise in Simplr time & attendance systems to lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to production in Manhattan, NY. This role will focus on evaluating business challenges and delivering innovative solutions through application enhancements, system integrations, and automation. Residency in New York or New Jersey is required to support occasional in-person meetings in Manhattan, NY.Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of payroll systems from initial design through production deployment- Oversee operational tasks and project deliverables related to payroll processing for large employee populations- Ensure seamless integration between Workday payroll systems and both internal and external platforms- Coordinate Time & Attendance processes using Symplr Workforce Management or similar software, ensuring accurate payroll processing- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements specific to client jurisdictions- Evaluate business challenges and deliver solutions through application development, system integration, and process automation- Contribute to all phases of the project lifecycle, including design, testing, rollout, and ongoing support- Provide technical guidance to identify system gaps and recommend tailored or standard solutions- Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders to define integration strategies and document technical solutions- Support financial initiatives through detailed analysis, processing documentation, and user training- Convert complex business needs into actionable technical deliverables across various finance functions- Maintain comprehensive process documentation and offer mentorship to junior team members- Stay informed on industry developments through relevant seminars, workshops, and training sessionsRequired Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.- 4–7 years of hands-on experience in payroll or time & attendance management, ideally within Healthcare or Non-Profit organizations.- Strong background in configuring and reporting within Workday Payroll is crucial.- Experience with Symplr Workforce Management or equivalent software such as Kronos is a plus.- Track record of successfully gathering technical requirements and steering cross-functional initiatives.- Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous documentation practices, and clear communication abilities.
