Overview:Assist in the documentation and analysis of financial, accounting, or tax information, and prepare financial, tax, and regulatory reports. Ensure adherence to internal controls and data quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide cross-training/support to new team members.
• Assist with problem resolution, data interpretation, variance analysis, and timely report submission. Analyze results and recommend actions to management.
• Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations, and reports for the Corporation, including regulatory reports, SEC filings, shareholder and Board reports, and internal management reports. Knowledge of tax regulations is a plus.
• Select alternatives in work routines by applying basic finance or accounting concepts.
• Perform data integrity testing, general ledger entries, and ensure compliance with accounting principles, SEC, and regulatory requirements.
• Understand M&T's financial statements, key drivers, and trends in Balance Sheet and Income Statement items.
• Participate in training and development opportunities across Finance.
• Adhere to department timelines, deliverables, and risk and regulatory standards.
• Identify and escalate risk-related issues.
• Promote an environment reflecting the M&T Bank brand and support belonging.
• Maintain internal control standards and address audit or regulatory issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: May train junior staff.

Education and Experience Required:

• Associate's degree with at least 2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions OR a Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency in PC applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access); data visualization/querying skills are a plus.
• Detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

M&T Bank offers a pay range of $24.76 - $41.27 hourly, depending on experience and skills. The position is based in Buffalo, NY.
