Overview

The Finance Team Leader is responsible for managing and supporting the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable finance team. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, and maintaining adherence to internal controls. The role also plays a key part in the month-end close process, contributing to accurate financial reporting, audit readiness, and ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly routine journals such as accruals and prepayments to ensure accurate month end reporting.
  • Maintain and manage financial systems to support reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of management accounts for subsidiary entities.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions to ensure timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Review coding of AP and AR postings to ensure accuracy and consistency with accounting policies.
  • Ensure month-end and year-end closing activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support external audit processes through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with other departments to resolve queries and improve interdepartmental processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to the finance team to ensure continued professional development and performance.
  • Assist the Senior Finance Team with implementation and improvements of financial systems.
  • Support senior management by preparing or assisting with ad hoc tasks such as financial reports and analysis as needed.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SUN)
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in team leadership and development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office tools

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant.
  • +3years of experience in a similar finance environment
